The Wheel of Time Universe Is All Set To Expand With YA Animated Movie

In addition to the ongoing television series, a new animated film based on the huge fantasy world that is featured in the Wheel of Time books is currently under development. This will allow the Wheel of Time universe to grow much further than it already has.

Prime Video's The Wheel of Time makes its premiere on streaming services in November 2021. The series is based on the best-selling books written by Robert Jordan.

The second season of the show has just finished airing, and the plot of the next season is based, at least roughly, on Jordan's second and third books, respectively titled The Great Hunt and The Dragon Reborn.

Before this year's WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes began, production on the third season of "The Wheel of Time" had already gotten under way.

Jay Oliva, a veteran of both Marvel and DC Animation, will reportedly direct a new young adult animated Wheel of Time feature that will act as a prequel to the storyline that has already been created on the program. The report comes from a recent article published by Deadline.

The 3D animated adventure will be called The White Tower, and it will tell the narrative of a young girl who is coerced into going to the eponymous location all by herself in order to be trained by the Aes Sedai.

The project, which will begin production in early 2024 and is based on an original script written by Zack Stentz, who also wrote the screenplay for Thor. Take a look at the following statements made by Oliva:

“I am so excited to be joining this amazing creative team. Reading Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time inspired me to become a filmmaker, and having an opportunity to explore the world he created has been a lifelong dream of mine. The rich history of The White Tower has intrigued me, and the expansive backstory of the books gives the creative team the freedom to tell a fresh and imaginative story within the familiar world that was so meticulously crafted by Jordan in The Wheel of Time.”
